The assembly instructions are pant, but don't worry since it is pretty straightforward to put together. First attach the HDD to the front of the unit using the connectors on the circuit board. Then put the two flat plastic plates on either side of the HDD. Little tabs should fit old screw holes. Then slide into main box and secure with the two small screws. Screwdriver provided. If the HDD is seen in device manager but not file manager, find Administrative Tools in Win7, then manage computer. If HDD is not visible at tp of right hand pane, but is there in black at bottom, then right click on bottom black and format. Remember you will lose data.

I tried three different disks in this with different results. One out of an USB 2.0 drive seemed to work, but it wanted to format it, losing what was on there, ehich I wasn't willing to do. TGhe other two were out of a NAS. I fiddled with one through the W10 system, introduced it and formatted it, but the next time I tried to use it it wasn't working again. The third spun up, but the unit didn't seem visible to the system at all. All three disks are working now elsewhere. I only didn't return it because I had spent so long fiddling with it and was having to rethink how best to redesign the backup system again and for the moment have gone back to the very ancient and reliable Stors NAS. I hope someone else has better luck as it is phydically easy to set up.

Does exactly what it says. Everything supplied, although the USB lead could be a bit longer. The power supply is rather bulky - more like a laptop adapter rather than the plug-in type. Instructions supplied did not relate to this particular model - the disk drive slides into the caddy. It's not a "clam shell" type construction. But it's so simple to set up, that it's not a problem.

This was a reasonably priced product among several similar products on the market. I thought the overall finish was good, but the instructions could have been better and had me scratching my head for a few minutes until I worked out how to get the case open. Once that was accomplished, however, it was matter of only a few minutes to fit the hard drive and have operational.

On the advice of a friend I purchased 2 of these Caddies from 7 Day Shop who I've used previously. They are very easy to assemble and read much quicker than the docking bay I have been using. I put a 1TB hard drive in one and 500GB in the other, took 5 mins, I am a photographer so I need plenty of storage and it was taking quite a while to get images into LR6 & CC with the old HD. The difference in transfer speed is amazing, so now I can search through my old hard drives quickly and easily. Very happy with this product
