Hours of wonderful entertainment!
I watched this series years ago and always wanted to see it again. Well it was a very successful purchase. I was glued to Tv for weeks and laughed out loud at least once in every episode. I will watch it again and so I warmly recommend this series. The cast is very talented and each person stands out in a special way especially the leading man who was involved in a nasty accident during filming but came back to finish the series.I watched this series years ago and always wanted to see it again. A Riot of British Born Laughter.
If you enjoy Monty Python even a little or the tongue in cheek British brass you should love this series. In the same vein as "Are You Being Served" but even more on or over the edge. The story of a French Restaurant owner and his times during the German occupation of France. Comedy about such taboo topics, "'Allo 'Allo" pokes fun at French romance, German high Command, the Gestapo, and everything that wasn't funny about WWII. When first released there was some criticism and concern, but the troupe is so good and the way they play the characters. It's all in English but the players speak it with either a French, German, or British accent and do not have the ability to understand each other. I first saw this series on PBS and was hooked. One of my favorites along with "Good ... If you enjoy Monty Python even a little or the tongue in cheek British brass you should love this series. Amazing - Best Comedy
The best comedy out there and a great box set to watch all the episodes in. Bit of a tacky box and does not contain the documentary "the return of allo allo" which is a shame. But the overall humour of the comedy makes up for this! The talent of the late Gorden Kaye is to be admired.

Watching second time around you realise the timing and delivery of the lines was spot on. It is just light entertainment comedy gold imo. Great show. Great cast.
