So think camping, not home style toast in an electric toaster and you'll appreciate this little gadget. I have a grill in my camper, it takes ages to toast and doesn't do it evenly. I have tried an alternative gas top toaster where the slices stand upright. I found it useless. This gadget is great if toasting one slice at a time. I'm always doing toast for two so have to move bread around a lot and two large slices won't fit on so,often cut one in half. Just keep a good heat, keep an eye on it and move it around. It's quick compared to the alternatives, hence the reason I'm replacing my old one. It's been rust coloured a while, hasn't killed us and hasn't tainted the toast. To clean it just shake out the crumbs, wash, dry on the gas hob. Admit it could easily be better designed for cleaning. Had mine for 6 years now and used 2to 3 weeks a year so good value for money. Only replacing it for aesthetic reasons. (Rust coloured)Read full review

Simply doesn't heat the bread evenly, i've tried this on two camping stoves - one being a single hob burner and a second being a larger twin hob. And it simply doesn't work at all. Burns the bread in various places while leaving parts of the bread untouched. To get a piece of bread toasted you'll have to end up with multiple parts of the bread in charcoal. £8.00+ is simply a waste of money. I would return it but I can't be bothered with the postage costs. Avoid.

Having sighed deeply many times, over many decades, at the various 'open flame' toaster predicaments, I can finally eat the perfect toast and marmite whilst camping. Baguettes, ciabatta, sliced, I've even had a decent success with homemade pizza using a gas torch. I have given it a wipe, not tried to clean it too much, and I treat it with care as it feels very light, but other than that IT DOES EXACTLY WHAT IT SAYS IT DOES - toasts all manner of bread products, pitta, rolls (the cheap burger type rolls stick a bit - avoid!), warms wraps, you name it. I have two more, which should last the next few decades! :)

Perfect toaster for all camping stoves, I've even used them on a camp fire when run out of gas just be careful with handle if over a flame, but on camping stoves it's not a problem as you shouldn't have flame to high enyway, it's the safest one to use in my opinion been using them for about 10 years now without a problem, allso used on home gas cooker with great success saves you lots of gas? and dosent dry the bead out,

Makes bread have toasted spots (same size as toaster holes), but is fine. Used for part baked rolls and good too. Down side is it bends as it gets hot and is easily crushed and any crumbs fall into gap between top and lower plate and burn, so your bread smells burnt if you don't shake them out first. Good for keeping stuff warm on and put a tiny single fry pan on top and cooked egg. Did the job for a fiver and no mesh to burn through so may last longer than some other toasters, Did 7 days of cooking with it and still works. Was delivered slighty damaged as poorly wrapped hence 3 stars. Said quality is good, but that is only based on price not quality, if you see what I mean!
