Ditched my ancient palm sander and wish I had done so much earlier! I have a ton of Dewalt gear, so the design, price and quality made this a no-brainer. Soooo much better than my old sander, and for such a reasonable price! My old sander could have been used to shake up cans of paint! This one's vibration is minimal, and the sheet loader is so fast and easy.

The claimed improvements with the sand paper clamps is Not an improvement but are Bad Changes. The Front clamp has to be held open with usually your Thumb on One Hand and while you try to slip the paper in the thin slit between the clamp and the base with your Other Hand, you better have a strong thumb to be able to keep it open. That's the First problem, Second Problem is you can only use the Front End of the Sander, because the Rear Clamp leaves the paper in an unusual unusable manner especially if you need to see the edge of the paper to not scratch surrounding material or items. 3rd Problem if you are wet sanding and you try to not waste sandpaper by trying to use the rear part of the paper, remember how hard it was to put Fresh paper in There? Well it's wet now, so getting it in the small slit provided by that front clamp is impossible. So, Expect to Double the Waste of Sandpaper, Double the time to Clamp the Sandpaper and Double the Frustration, also expect to hit other items surrounding what you are working on Due to the unusual Rear Clamp. And if you have ANY left over spare parts you bought for your Previous Dewalt Sanders, they Will Not Fit, including the Pads, the Armature, Bearings - now the bearing may have been workable, but it must be hammered out and hope you don't break the pad holder in the process, but all the previous dewalt parts will fit the 1/4 sheet Porter Cable Sander, they are interchangeable; but not with this New Style dewalt sander. I will not buy this Style again, I'm going back to Porter Cable.Read full review

I am a Vintage Furniture Restorations Artist and I have been using palm sanders for many many years... The DeWalt is by far the best of the best... I has the best Sand Paper Grippers of any sander on the market today... with the single front clamp and dual rear clamp that tightens the paper as it clamps down... The market pricing on them is all over the road map ... one fellow said he paid over $300 for his... That's just ridiculous... This particular company at $45 is a terrific deal... less than Home Depot.... Good luck out there....

I haven't really used it, yet, just enough to plug it in and make sure it operates. However, I have used hand sanders in the past and DeWalt has a good reputation.

I have a total of four sanders, identical in size and shape as the purchased Dewalt. At the average price of $13 (new), that is what they are worth. The Dewalt, being of a higher grade, even purchased as a preowned, outshines the other four.
