The HUMAX HB-1100s Freesat receiver features built-in Wi-Fi to allow you to receive catch-up TV from the BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, Youtube, My5 and several other Apps. If you prefer to use a wired connection for a more stable signal, the HB-1100s is very capable. It receives around 200 TV and radio channels, with many bieng in 1080p High Definition. Although this model has no internal hard drive the USB port on the rear of the box allows for an external hard drive to be connected to allow you to record your favourite programmes, as well pausing and rewinding of live action. The easy to use award winning on-screen TV guide is superb and allows you to quickly select what you want at the touch of a button. The HB1100s has a unique showcase section which identifies the must watch programmes now and ahead..... The only let down is that, unlike it's big brother, the Humax HDR-1100s, you cannot add your own Apps - in order to update the Apps you have to do a factory reset (or something like that). Although the picture is good on this box it isn't as used friendly as the original Humax Foxsat HD box I replaced it with they have gone backwards with some functions as far as I'm concerned but I'll have to get used to it and another thing is about the sound before I used RGB component cable connection because the sound was far better through RCA cables but the new one doesn't have that option and the sound is inferior which seems stupid to me !

I bought this item to replace an aging, though still functioning, Humax Foxsat HD. The setup was straight forward, with only one slight glitch, when connecting to ITV Hub. But after powering down and restarting the Humax and router this problem was solved. An unexpected bonus was the ease with which this box was transformed into a fully featured PVR. Simply by plugging in a 500GB hard disk (recycled from an old Sky box and mounted in an externally powered enclosure) into the USB port, the box assumed all the functions of more expensive models - pausing, rewinding, scheduling recordings, etc. No fiddling required, it just worked. The television guide is excellent and the ability to go back over a number of days and to watch programmes from the beginning, when channel hopping, (with certain channels) is great. Another unexpected bonus came with the media share App in the Humax menu, this immediately picked up my Serviio server, and allows me to play the media stored on my desktop PC. After a month of use, the normal TV, catch up, media share and YouTube have all worked flawlessly. The only thing con I have found is the delay in booting-up from cold, about 15-20 secs or so but I can live with that; Read full review

This is a great product with a good menu & easy to set up. I bought with a WD 1tb hard drive. The downside is you cannot record one channel whilst watching another. I think it’s an important feature & if Humax want to compete with Virgin & Sky need to address. Otherwise a great little box I won’t be sending it back but do regret not doing further research so I knew before hand.

I bought a new dish as the old one had become tatty and rusty and, as an afterthought, purchased the Humax Freesat box to replace my very old, cheap box that I have used in the bedroom for more years than I can remember. I am so pleased that I did. I plugged in a spare USB HDD that I had and also downloaded the Freesat App to my phone. The result is that I can see what's on wherever I am - and record any program, or series, if I want (via my phone). The Humax box itself is easy to control via the remote and includes iPlayer and various other "Catchup" apps. And all free-to-receive! I have never and will never pay to watch TV!
