I've been using Roku for some time. I swapped from Chromecast because the Roku has more features. The big advantage of Roku is it comes with its own remote, so unlike Chromecast you don't need to use your mobile phone or laptop to control it. Second major advantage of Roku over all other streaming sticks is that it has all the apps for TV you will ever need - this is in contrast to most other streamers which are big name US companies that are in competiton with each other and therefore don't support each other's devices. The Roku fully supports Amazon, Netflix, Now TV, Google Movies and YouTube right out of the box and fully controlled by the remote. If you prefer apps to control the device, you will find there is an app for Android, IPhone (not used that one myself) and Windows 10. This means you can stream videos and music from your laptop or mobile phone straight to the TV. The Roku 2 has the advantage over the Roku streaming stick that it uses IR remote as well as wireless. This means you can use a compatible universal remote to control it. I use a Contour 8 from One-for-All and it allows me to control both the Roku 2 and my Panasonic TV without needing to have two remotes or even to switch between remote modes.Read full review

pros. nice compact unit easy to use and navigation of the menu is a doddle. 100's of additional apps available. cons. takes a while to load catch up channels around 9 seconds and some buffering although that could be my broadband. definitely worth buying.

This box is just what I was looking for, it has an almost identical set up as the now TV boxes but has so much more choice in apps as Sky have since updated the now TV boxes to disable the ability to use apps such as plex as they aren't licenced to sky. With the roku 2 box the apps available seem endless. Very easy to set up and use with easy clear menus. I can now stream all my catch up TV on iplayer, demand 5, 4od etc as well as all my media on my plex account and netflix. Other features such as YouTube are also very handy with dedicated buttons on the remote for easy access. Highly recommended!

Being mostly interested in streaming operas, I have long searched for a device that avoided the dreaded buffering delays, and the Roku 2 seems to do that. It is compact, easy to set up and reasonably priced. Just hope Roku will get more channels on its platform, particularly arts ones, though I know it's a niche market.

Bought this believing it had a ETHERNET connection but only Wi-Fi. Not very good if a long way from router. The product Roku is very good and if close to router works well. Happy with the purchase but if you are buying one buy with Ethernet and Wi-Fi
