The machine is easy to use but that is about it. The instructions say to turn on 15 minutes before you need to make coffee for the best results. The best results for me are to get a coffee as soon as possible after I wake up; so on that front this machine fails. Secondly, when the green light comes on telling you the water is to temperature for the coffee, you have only around 15 seconds before the light goes out: ie: the water is now too cool to make the ideal espresso. With a fine ground coffee in the double-shot coffee holder, it takes 10 seconds to even start expressing water into the cup. So, insufficient power power and an inadequate heating element are definite issue with this machine. Fails again. 3 key failure points.

Recent DeLonghi espresso machines have used an excellent proprietary plastic fitting underneath the portafilter which maximises your chances of getting a good crema. The rest of the secret is fresh, very finely ground coffee, enough pressure and the correct amount of tamping - this model has a tamper fitted in a convenient place. It has the means to produce excellent results, even though it's sometimes loud and inconsistent. It works for two, but would be frustrating for a big family in a hurry. You can pay hundreds for something which is no better, 30 times as much per cup by becoming a pod slave, or go to a shop for a burnt offering. I'd go with one of these. But if you don't understand coffee, and think of it as a drink, rather than a tongue tickler, I don't know why you'd even want an espressso machine.Read full review
This is a very good product. Easy to use and clean. Makes great coffee. I used to drink coffee years ago, I had one of those really old fashion coffee makers with the paper filters. Amazingly enough the charity shop I gave it to, sold it quick. This machine has a good size water tank so not too much filling up to do. It wipes down clean and fresh looking and with its elegant stainless steel casing it looks good in any kitchen. I love the fact that it is quite heavy, making it solid and very sturdy on the worktop. Delonghi certainly came up trumps with the quality of this machine. It makes 1 or two coffees at a time, if you have to make more than one or two, you make the coffee first, as many as you want, then froth the milk, if you use a big jug then you can do all, so as to serve all at the same time. I use the frother wand to make other hot drinks as well i.e drinking chocolate etc. When you want to spend more time with your guests, I use the pods so you can just throw them away, with no mess. I love this machine, fresh coffee at your finger tips, with coffee shop quality every time.Read full review
This is a brilliant product. It was supplied in perfect condition and being a reconditioned product was as new but at way less than half the price of a new one. My jar of instant coffee has remained in the cupboard ever since. My only moan is that as the instructions were photocopied, the copier must have been running out of ink. It was simple enough to download legible instructions from the internet though.
