These speakers combine the traditional Tanoy 'Dual Concentric' idea with an assimetric 'streamlined' cabinet to produce what is both an appealing appearance as well as an efficient driver/enclosure package that produces a very 'listenable' sound. I use them as front speakers for my 'kitchen' home theatre system and they certainly welcome me in the morning to a well balanced early morning introduction to televised and Radio 3 material. In comparison to my £9000 main home theatre system downstairs or my Mark Levinson garage system or indeed to my Musical Fidelity/PMC bedroom system, these speakers provide the easy listening experience that you need in any kitchen system when you wake up. However, this is not to say that they're not fun-to-listen-to. So for the £129 that I spent on these speakers on e-bay....I'm very pleased indeed.Read full review
Made at a time when there was genuine competition in the Hifi industry, which kept prices down and performance up. Kef had only very recently sold out to a Chinese conglomerate who were anxious to show they were still serious. Kef’s current offerings are cosmetically hideous, look cheap (but aren’t) and sonically I have found them underwhelming. I certainly wouldn’t buy a current Kef speaker. These, on the other hand, are thoroughly decent and you’d need to spend more than £600 in today’s money to even equal them; Even then I wouldn’t bet on it. Not an ideal match for bright, thin or edgy systems, but they love Arcam amplification which seems to play to their strengths and minimise their flaws.

First time I buy and hear Kef speakers, their reputation is well deserved, I am hooked , clear and beautiful sound , even the bass is good, well recommended.
