This is the third of these recorders that I have bought. They do seem to have a very finite lifetime of about 5 years, the VHS tape section on the first two packed up after a while and the first DVD recorder isn't fantastic. The second one also got slightly temperamental and very occasionally needed switching off at the mains. So why did I buy a third one? Simply because they are the only combination recorders still on the market, and like all modern electronic devices I guess they are not made to last forever. While they work properly they do a great job, so buy as long as you recognize it won't last forever. I doubt if you will find a brand new one, they seem to be a discontinued line and you can only get them as such. But I don't know where you can get a brand new equivalent.

Great machine easy to set up and use. Have used it to copy old VHS tapes to DVD, wish I had bought one sooner.

Dubbing between all media perfect, recording and playback and title editing easy. My only gripe despite pressing HD button there is no obvious indication on the unit screen.

It was just like brand new & was easy to set up. So far it has done all that we hoped.

We already had a Toshiba combo but it was having problems with VHS tapes. The solution for us was to buy a refurbished combo and have the existing combo repaired at a later date. We therefore knew what we were getting and were happy to continue using a Toshiba combo.
