All the time I have wanted to achieve the same sort of sound that I get from the headphones and none of the three amps I have used have really cut it. I had been using my bass amp and was expecting these monitors to outstrip its performance but sadly I confess there is not a lot in it except there seems more clarity at the top end such as cymbals. This is why I went for a "drum" amp. I therefore first purchased a Subzero 30w amp which I had to return as it was defective. I decided to go to one with a higher output and possibly better quality control on the build second time around. I have a Carlsbro CSD 130 e-drum kit and it seemed logical to keep with Carlsbro especially as they use stereo. Using two leads does seem to give a tiny amount of volume increase. First observation is the extra 20W seems to hardly make much difference which means either the Carlsbro is under powered or the Subzero is better in terms of watts per buck. I tend to set the volume control at almost full whack and have the middle bass and treble right up there too. However, my second observation is that the Carlsbro 50w gives a slightly better sound. This may be as a result of there being a separate tweeter or just the slightly more power. Going back to volume, there is enough to overcome the sound of stick on pad and enough to annoy others in the house but that's it. It would easily get drowned out by a piano etc. I tried running other inputs and found the power to be lower than I expected and it is a pity there is no mic input. I don't much care for the cloth cover though I don't think not having leatherette is a deal breaker. I do like how the handle is built in to the top where some have a handle at the side or even recessed handles that require two handed lifting. These things are not lightweight so a decent handle helps. I don't like the mains switch being at the back. What I feel is needed is a 100w version of this amp so it is not running at full tilt all the time and also there would be some reserve for when playing with volume greedy guitars. And there is the rub, if I had my time again I would, and likely will soon, get a much more powerful amp maybe the Carlsbro 200w version.Read full review

Using the Carlsbro EDA50 with my Yamaha 450dx drum set and the volume is much better than I thought. At 3/4 Volume it just covers the pad tapping and at full volume covers it completely. Distortion is minimal and the Kick sounds great. Bass, Middle and Treble controls work well. Must be loud enough as the other half complained she could hear it outside.
