I had bought this model new some 4 years earlier. A cracking piece of equipment crammed full of really useful gadgetry which made light work of recording, storing and transferring items, including all my jpeg photos to disc. Being an old age pensioner/silver surfer simplicity is everything to me and the DMR-EX75 certainly ticked all the boxes. So whatever was it that suddenly filled the thing with gremlins making awful crackling spitting sounds and breaking up the picture as it did? At first I thought it was just the new digital retuning that was going on in my area but one day..NOTHING.. "No Signal" was displayed accross my screen, I was devastated. The engineer from my local electrical shop soon had it sussed. "You've got water coming down the Coax cable" he said. It's jiggered your DVD recorder. HORROR!! just like having my right arm amputated. What does one do in such circumstances? I scoured all the obvious electrical stores and waded through a minefield of DVD's some with hard drives others without, different "Gigs" some HD others Blueray All megga expensive. I was totally out of my depth. Then it occurred to me, "Why not try to get exactly the same model?" Yes they are out of production and no longer in the shops but my trusty friend "Ebay" have never let me down. And thats about it!! I found a great ebayer who had one for auction, His feedback was great and the player had only light domestic usage. Couple that with the fact that it would be hard to better this model without breaking the bank and hey presto...a "no brainer" as they say today. I certainly wasn't going to be outbid and landed the item to my great joy. I now am once again the proud owner of the Panasonic DMR-EX75 160GB DVD/HDD recorder and I wouldn't have it any other way. It works a treat, I feel whole again and can honestly say, if you fancy one, don't hesitate, you'll never regret it.Read full review
I bought this dvd recorder to replace the same model which had recently stopped operating. I like the facility to record both on hard drive and on disc. I am able to enter in programmes for recording and both + or - discs can be played on it. My husband and I, both pensioners have found it user friendly which is why we had no hesitation in buying another when the old one failed. No doubt it doesn't do everything the more up-to-date models do but it seems to have everything we need.
An excellent machine which has many features that other similar machines do not have, such as the ability to copy DVD's as long as they are not copy protected. I also like the edit facility which enables amongst other things the ability to delete adverts from recordings. I have a modern Freesat recorder which cost me nearly £400 which has no edit facility on it. So I would not hesitate in recommending this machine.

A brilliant machine, probably the best ever. I now have two, wouldn't consider any other model. It does so much and very easy to use. Why did Panasonic discontinue this model?
