A few years ago the cable froze up, probably from rust. I asked the guys at the repair place refused to replace it. For some reason, they concluded the transmission was the problem, and said it would be too expensive to replace. So, for years I used the mower without any 'auto drive.' When the throttle cable broke, I figured it would be a good time to see if this could be fixed too. (This required grinding a frozen nut/ bolt that holds wheel on, to allow transmission to slide out far enough, to release cable.) So, it works GREAT now. (Maybe I'll buy the shop manual for this Honda mower and do my own carburetor adjustments...)
