At about half the price of most brand named USB drives I considered this a bit of a gamble, but since I was watching a Blu-ray within about five minutes of getting it I'd say it paid off! As the description says, to play Blu-ray films you'll need to download software, I followed the advice of another review and went with Leawo because it's free - works fine so far. It said it needed something else installed to bring up the menu but played the contents of the disc regardless. Pros: Cheap, light, easy to use. Cons: A little noisy when playing Blu-ray, but not excessively so. Type B connector is way longer than the socket in the drive and the connection can need a little wiggle.

First of all, top marks to Lizard Tech for supplying this very quickly. Many thanks :-) The drive is generic in appearance, and comes with all the leads required. It's a good quality construction, and reassuringly solid. It's the Blu-ray BD-R speeds that are a little disappointing. I used to have an (admittedly more expensive) ASUS BR-combo/reader drive, which read Blu-ray discs much more quickly, at about 6X. I use the drive to 'rip' the audio segment of Blu-ray discs for playback on my network audio player, and this drive is very slow ripping compared to my last drive. The most I can get from this drive on reading BD-R discs is 4X. I noticed on the item description that drive speeds aren't specified. All-in-all a good value drive for the price paid, and it IS a lot cheaper than my last ASUS drive, just a little disappointed with BR-R ripping speeds.Read full review

Bought this item as a previous (so-called) external Blue-Ray drive I'd bought had proven unable to actually read Blu-Ray discs (though it coped with DVDs etc. just fine). The drive looks fairly generic and the enclosure doesn't look like it would stand up to much abuse (but why would you give that sort of treatment anyway). It came with two USB leads, and experience with my previous drive suggested to me that both would be required to make the drive work (the "instructions" are so brief as to be virtually non-existent). However, once I'd connected it to my Windows 10 desktop I was delighted to see that it just worked; when I put in a Blu-Ray disc the drive recognised it, and the software I'd installed in readiness for the previous drive (which I'd found on the internet and was free) was able to play the disc. So it does everything I want it to, and the price was very reasonable in comparison to everything else I'd seen on the internet or in actual stores. Therefore at the moment I'm a satisfied owner!Read full review

This Blu-ray rom is very good value and works perfectly on my widows 10 computer. Just plugged it in to the usb port placed Blu-ray disc in and it played perfectly. No need to spend a fortune on a new PC with Blu-ray ROM this works a treat. Just needed to download a Blu-ray player from the internet, I use leawo Blu-ray player free software.
