I have installed 2 of these on Jeff Beck "tribute" Stratocaster builds. They work great and look cool. Like most things, the second install was a lot easier than the first!. Make sure you file the new nut slot FLAT and get the edges clean so it fits down all the way:)

*warning: You need skills to install this* Technically it's not a roller nut. Think Zero-nut, with 2 small balls per string after the intonation point that act as string guides. The 6 metal inserts to set the height are worthless. Make a single spacer and sand it down to the required height. Increases coupling too. With that said, it works well. So far...

The Fender LSR Roller nut is a great piece of gear ( yes, gear) for any guitar with a trem system. A long time ago when I was working in a little guitar shop in Venice, CA a fairly well known player of the time told me he always soldered the ball end of his strings whenever he put a new set of strings on his guitar. He said it helped keep is guitar in tune because the ball end is where most of the stretching occurs. So I took him up on his idea and it works great!. I'll put a set of locking tuners (my preference are Sperzels, they're a great company to do business with and they are all American Made) on, too. I've been soldering my strings at the ball end for years now. And with locking tuners and the help of the LSR Nut I have a great locking trem system that needs very little maintenance or repair.Read full review

OK, you better put your seatbelt on for this one! The first thing the instructions say is: Do not install this on your guitar! For real! I was like what? Then I read the rest of the instructions. Very specific. If you follow them to the letter, markout, drill bit size etc. you'll get it done. If you have any doubt, bring it to your guy [girl] Again, the drill bit size must be exact! [I purchased a set of numbered drill bits for this job] I installed this on a home made 62 strat copy, that I built. With a big block non locking tremelo and this nut, the guitar stays in tune much better than stock.

I just installed this on a Fender Showmaster. Same first as a Strat. Not too bad too install if you plan it out and take your time. The sizes of drill bit and philips driver are critical as noted in instructions. Came out great for me, but unless you have a lot of patience, I'd recommend a luthier installing it. As far as performance, I noticed the problem string I always had with knocking out of tune (G) was only slightly improved. Could be other setup issues that I'll have to look into, but overall I think I had the bridge set up fairly well. Looks pretty spiffy on the guitar though!
