I am on my second one because I just about wore out my first one (that I bought used) after years and years of abuse. I would still be using my first one but I got a deal I could not pass up. So I sold my old one for $100 with an old blade! Although this saw and its blades is a little on the pricey side, it will save you money in the end by making awesome straight cuts. I can make thousands of cuts with one blade ranging from 0.5"-4" material with thicknesses of .065-.250. Advantages: Very little to no sparks. Blade does not shrink like abrasive blades. No blade deflection even on angle cuts. Material does not heat up. Way less slag from cuts. No nasty black metal dust just 1/8" little chunks that are super easy to pick up with a shop vac.

I have been attempting to work with an abrasive chop saw but it is dusty, sparks fly everywhere, and angle cuts were off. The thing that made me consider this was when the abrasive blade broke apart while I was cutting flat stock. Now it was a cheap brand, but it made me not enjoy working with metal. I have a Makita 4 inch grinder that is 29 years old, so I think Makita is up for the jobs I have. Makita has service centers thought the US. I dealt with them on a recall for another Makita tool and they were great. For safety and making accurate cuts I chose to pay more and buy Makita.
