This is is great for taking pictures of birds or anything else which you can't get close too. The lens is large but all lens of this type are so no issue there just use your tripod. monopod or something to get the sharp image you wish. The lens works on the Canon EF system and does work with EOS.D cameras so not an older Sigma model which work on Flim SLR canon cameras. Sigma lens buyers beware sigma lens on Canon flim SLR cameras don't work on DSLR,s.

This has to be the best ebay bargain that I've ever purchased,it realy is a good lens and matches my Son's Canon 100-400mm L lens, only down side, it's heavy but then it's well made.
I have bought this lens with a view to expanding a photography business I have been putting together, I wanted a good quality lens with a zoom facility that I could use for motorcycle racing, it was for me a question of affordability as the business is in its infancy and start up costs for equipment can be prohibitive. Sigma do several mid range telephoto lenses and I had to decide where to go in relation to what I wanted to achieve. I looked at the 100-400 canon IS yes a quality piece of machinery but cost wise even second hand showed that with the current financial climate it was getting to nearly three times the cost of the sigma. I have used the sigma now twice and have been suitably impressed with the results there is a little fade if used at the very end of the zoom but with the processors in cameras and mine is 1.6 i am getting 640mm that is more than enough for what i need. The lens is relatively light for instance compared to the ultra prime lenses 300 f2.8 sigma, with the HSM it is pretty fast on auto focus and panning with the lens is easy if like me the weight inst an issue, the image stability with the lens also helps greatly when you are following a bike travelling at up to 200mph so really its a case of does it suit me yes, it fits into my back pack you can use it with a 1.4 converter although focusing is a little slower it still gives value for money and in today's current climate that has to be a must when spending your hard earned monies, i hope it helps and as always enjoy your hobbyRead full review
