I ordered this as a spare/backup for my Photosmart 7525 multi-function machine. As far as I can see, the two perform with the same quality and efficiency. The only thing the 5520 doesn't have that the 7525 does, is automatic document feed, which I have no need for. As far as being easy to set up, I had to answer "no". That's because numerous times I saw the notification that there was no wireless connection with the computer. When I was asked if I wanted to install updates on the printer, I answered "yes". THEN I was able to complete the set up. Other than that detail, I am quite satisfied with the machine's performance. It's definitely a good value.

I now have 2 of these, both don't work. Initially it's a good printer, they stopped making this model the 5520 years ago. Along with thousands of others, I got a few couple of years out of it, then it died. HP acknowledges the printer has problems, and it was not a cheap printer to buy either. If you happen to find a used one for sale (Beware) you're asking for trouble. If you happen to find one that says (New) its been sitting around for years, still selling for too much money, and it won't last long before it fails on you. - Buyer Beware! One common and major problem is that eventually it won't print black. The print head has a history of failing after a few years. As I said, they replaced this model years ago because of problems it had. Much better and newer printers available now at a more reasonable price. It's too bad as this did work nicely when it was working. Stay away from this model, it's problem prone! The HP 564 ink it uses is also expensive and hard to find.Read full review

I use this printer in a one ton flatbed truck. I receive dispatch orders via email. I can print any email without wifi. This printer has a feature called "Direct Print". HP almost hides this information, but it's the reason that I made this purchase. You can print direct from your Iphone to the printer ( no hotspot needed ). The HP 5520 is great for a small vehicle. It is light and the paper feeds and ejects from the same side. HP probably has other models with Direct Print but they seem to bury the information about it.The HP 5520 solved my mobile printing needs. HP 5520, power inverter, Iphone, and you have mobile printing.
The printer was a great buy at $50. It has many of the common all-in-one printer functions that was easy to set up. I especially like being able to print from my IPhone or tablet. Quality of print was adequate and the ink usage is normal compared to other printers I have owned in the past. Be prepared to buy ink if you use this or any other inkjet printer on the market today.

I am very pleased with the purchase. I had the same model and it was very easy to replace it with this one one. The price is excellent and it works fine. Much better than buying some models of printers which are cheap but the ink cost a fortune. The ink for this one is very reasonable.
