I'm 64 years old and have been playing with Fender amps since I was 15. I have had a lot of brands but the Fender Twin Reverb is my favorite. I've even had other Fender's, Princeton, Vibroverb, Frontman 15G, 25R, 212-R, and more. But the Twin reverb is my favorite. When I am asked which amp I recommend, if it isn't too big, then this is the one. Still sounding great, from clean and clear to growling rock, the twin is the best.

I've wanted a cover for my Fender Twin Reverb ever since I bought it in 1968, but never got around to buying one. Because of the low price on this one, I wasn't expecting much, but was very surprised to see the quality of it! Embroidered Fender logo even! Love it!

This amplifier is crisp, crystal clear and loud enough to play anywhere. It takes an overdrive pedal very good and loses very little volume when using the vibrato. Reverb sounds great but it does have to be cranked up quite a bit to hear. This is a very exceptional amp and I can now see why it is on so many stages. After 45 years of serious playing through many different amps, I can say that there is probably no reason for me to look for anything any better.

The Fender '65 Twin Reverb Reissue is a nearly 100% copy of the original "must-have" amplifier for working guitarists. Featuring both reverb and vibrato, this two-channel amplifier has been used on thousands of recordings and countless live performances since the mid-1950s. Fender's ‘65 Twin Reverb Reissue is a faithful reproduction of an original 1965 Twin Reverb model AB 763. Every effort has been made to keep the circuitry exactly like the original, however for improved reliability and manufacturing efficiency, a printed circuit board for the components is used in place of the original phenolic parts panel. The all-tube amplifier provides the warm, fat tones for which Fender tube amps are renowned. The blackface 85-watt vintage reissue comes with four 6L6 Groove Tube™ output tubes, four 12AX7 preamp tubes, two 12AT7 preamp tubes, two 12” 8-ohm Jensen® C-12K speakers, dual channels (normal and vibrato), Fender reverb, vibrato, two-button reverb and vibrato on-off footswitch, tilt-back legs, black textured vinyl covering and silver grille cloth. The normal channel generates clean, clear tone, as well as the classic over-driven tube sound heard in so many classic rock recordings of the 60s and 70s. The vibrato channel includes rich, spring reverb and classic vibrato effects, with speed and intensity controls. The vibrato channel also provides more treble boost than the normal channel. At nearly 65 pounds, this is not an amp that you will want to tote around for practice (and you'll want to add casters). But when you're on stage, the tone and power of this amplifier can really be appreciated. I have used other amps that provide a tube preamp feeding a solid state power amplifier that claim to emulate a "2x12 blackface" amp, but there's nothing like the real thing when you want an authentic classic rock or blues sound. I use my Twin Reverb with a variety of Strats and a Mosrite for 50s and 60s rock and blues, and a Casino for Beatles and Byrds, etc. The bass response from the all-wood cabinet is amazing, and when you crank the treble and mid-range controls, it really screams. I've tried Les Pauls, Rics, and many other guitar models, as well as Marshall, Peavey, and Crate amps. For my money, you just can't beat a Strat and a Twin Reverb as the most versatile combination for playing almost any style of music. Try one out at your local guitar shop, then come back to eBay and buy one at a bargain price. I have bought and sold several Twin Reverbs over the years (always regretting having sold it), and just recently bought another on eBay in 9 out of 10 condition for just over half of the typical retail price. Too good a deal to turn down! Now that I'm actively performing again, I'll keep the '65 Twin Reverb Reissue as my main stage amp for years to come.Read full review
Nice buying used as the tubes have had a chance to settle in. This amp. is going to serve as my club/gig amp. and will be my work horse - I play clean using classical guitar technique mostly (play with my nails). I love the clean balance I can get from the bass, mids and highs. The tubes break up the sound just a little bit when they get nice and warm and I’m playing loud - I love that sound though…just a wee bit of break up. Of course it’s all a matter of personal taste and playing style. About the only thing I don’t like about this amp. is how it’s going to kill my back – put some wheels on this amp. and your hauling around 85pounds of back breaking lifts on and off of stage. When I was in my twenties and thirties, maybe….I’m sucking it up though as I want the sound and power…I will never fall short in any size club or concert hall. I started to look at older amps. and new boutique amps of this caliber, however, it’s very challenging to buy a good one used and of course the new boutique amps are very expensive. Because Fender is selling these Twins at the big music outlet stores, they have flooded the market with them. You can buy one of these in almost new condition used for a very good price and most likely will be able to sell it for about what you paid used. In my opinion this is a conservative way to buy and amp. of this caliber - I would not pay the money for one of these new as I think they are overpriced and I could def. find a boutique amp. that is better in that price range. For the used price, you cannot go wrong with a twin if you like a clean tube sound and need the power of 85 watts - you can make your ears bleed with this baby. If you suddenly fall in love with a higher end boutique amp., it’s easy to sell your twin for what you bought for used (or very close). Great investment!Read full review
