On the face of it, these salt and pepper mills are nice to look at. The grinding action works well and the light is useful, even though I didn't think it would be. They are robust and up to the task. The only issue, and so many have brought it up, is the batteries. Why on earth it needs 6 AAA is beyond me! It is fiddly to insert the batteries, just as you are about to pop in the last one, two will pop out. Can be very frustrating. Bad design there Morphy Richards. Having said all that, I would still recommend them. One thing to be aware of is the price £18 - £45, look around to get cheapest price

The only problem with these is the number of batteries that you have to fit to make it work, 6 AAA, batteries with not the best connection points, a single battery would be much better. The last set we had lasted 2 years before one of the mills stopped working, however, they do the job they have been designed to do and they look ok as well,

Have tried a number of battery powered salt and pepper units over the years. Most have failed in a year due to stripped gears. These seem much better and with the extended warranty M/R must be confident of their longevity They also match our bread bin, cup tree and kitchen roll holder
