This log splitter is on the expensive side but after buying a cheaper model from a Chinese supplier which turned out to be absolute rubbish and only lasted a week was sent back and purchased this one. splits all logs including limbs without effort, quality is very good, haven't used the guard as i find it restricting. if you are looking for a good quality log splitter, buy this one, no regrets.

The important thing is that it splits logs, quickly and effectively. The downsides are far less important, but niggly. it was delivered minus some of the bits. Two clear plastic bags were supposed to hold the nuts, bolts, allen key etc to put the supporting stand together. One was empty. Send the lot back? Spend lots of time on the phone trying to explain which bits were missing? Wait for replacements to come when I had a window of opportunity to start splitting? No, I went out and bought bits to fit and got it put together. Once up and running, it did the job really well. The only fault with it is the little handle to set the distance the splitter returns to, when you have smaller logs to split, keeps working itself loose. These are small, but irritating, points and explains a product that works well but only gets three stars.Read full review

The basic splitter works well and will split knotty beech. Pleased with it so far. The only thing that lets it down so far are the wheels and axle assembly. Not everyone will have circlip pliers to remove the wheels from splitter and fit them to stand. I do ,so not a problem. However the grooves on the stand axle for the circlips were too shallow so the first time I moved it they sprang out. The axles were predrilled for split pins . Would have been good if the parts included split pins and suitable washers. Would have saved me hassle and time. Again I had these in my workshop so it did not bother me but for a few pence it would make life easier. So only 4*

Great piece of kit, I’d considered a lot of other splitters finally going for this one as it has the double cut - which works brilliantly - it does shorten the length of log it can split but well worth it. The stand is also an asset to the splitter, saving my back and sturdier than it looks.

I didn't really believe the claims attached to this tool until I used it. Amazing!! The very large beech discs I had from felled trees were no problem to this tool. They were way bigger than that of the listing picture so much so that I could hardly lift them on to the cutter table. I am suitably impressed and would recommend this tool to anyone with a real fire that requires logs for heating. Nice and easy to use, handy wheel arrangement for moving about. The only thing I would have like to have seen would have been the cutting wedges closing a bit more than they do but that's just me. Still split everything I put on it with effortless ease. Two handed operation means it's not possible to get hands and fingers trapped anywhere. All in all a nice tool with ease of use and great value, would buy again.
