I had a 350D which is a good camera but the screen is split in two. The smaller one giving information and a larger one for the taken image and images review. But this screen turned out to be quite small and made it difficult to see the image. I was happy with the camera until Canon brought out the 400D that had the two screens incorperated into one giving a larger and clearer image. I did get great results with it but after six years it was time to update. The 550D has an even bigger and clearer screen with much more information. The 600D is the same camera with a swing out screen, but I've watched someone using one and they had to swing the screen out after every shot to see the result, I would find that a nuisance. The change from 8MP to 18MP is startling, the result is so good, it has more features and is easier to use. The change to the 135mm lense from the 55mm is a personal choice. I had read that 135 is the biggest lense recommended to keep on your camera all the while and it does give you more flexability, It is image stabilised which again gives a sharper image. I haven't use it as a movie camera yet as it now uses an SD card not knowing much about them I bought an 8MB class 4 card that is ok for stills, but needs a class 6 to 10 because they're faster. I've been recommended to get a 16MB class 10. This camera is on the edge of a professional, but is easy to use by the amateur. I still have a lot to learn about it but would strongly recommend itRead full review
Hi I have no clue what I'm doing.... but I really wanta canon camera and this one seems to be great I just want to ask what it the difference betwwen this camera and the one on the following link http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/canon-eos-550d-digital-slr-camera-ef-s-18-55mm-zoom-lens-04906457-pdt.htmlk
Its very user friendly SLR camera. I highly recommend everybody this model who is new to photography. It is best value for money.
I was dreaming about getting a proper camera and a friend (photographer) recommended this one. Must admit - when I first received it and tried to take pictures - I wasn't great. And the reason was, as the lens is 18-135 I couldn't focus macro. Of course, when I asked my friend (saying maybe the lens is not suitable for macro pics) he just said to forget what I knew about my old cam, because with this one, the object HAS to be about 50cm away from camera :)) So to focus macro, got even easier because you don't have to hold camera right in front of the object to take a good picture. And I am not talking about the focus or quality - superb!!! Loving it now :)
