These are refurbished laptops, which were used in business. They all have an Intel processor ranging from I3 to I7 which makes them reasonable quick. The drawback can be small memory, this one came with 2GB of RAM. The memory can be upgraded to 8GB, bear in mind that there are only 2 slots. As this is the 4th ThinkPad that I have bought and upgraded I did have a spare 2GB of RAM which I was able to add to make it a 4GB which made it run faster straight away. (The others which were for family members have been upgraded to 6 or 8GB. This particular laptop had no operating software, as the hard drive had been professionally deleted. When removing the battery, the Windows Authentication label can be found with the code for Windows 7 professional. I them ran Windows from a DVD I had purchased and installed it. The next issue was it required an Ethernet driver to be able to access the internet. Once that was done, Windows were authenticaticated automatically, and Windows update started to download the updates and the required drivers. After that it works brilliantly. It will be used by a gardening club for a spreadsheet to calculate competition entries and winners. This is why the 160Gb drive and 4GB of RAM are sufficient.Read full review

A very reliable older machine that transforms to a modern development machine with Debian linux. No heating problems and ideal for portable use. Perfect for a developer or for general professional work assuming they are familiar with linux, because performance is just moderate on Windows. High component replace-ability as it's a well known older (2010) lenovo enterprise model and pretty much everything that would fail on it is slotted in the body, making removal very easy. The only somewhat-con about this notebook is the proprietary intel drivers that don't work out of the box on debian and thus force the user to make the first netinst setup on a lan cable to download the proper firmware, but that doesn't seem to be a big issue for the average user.
