Took me quite a while of getting it out of 'standby' (orange light) but I googled instructions. Took many tries but eventually worked and was able to scan for channels. Working fine for used product.

I now have 3 DTI6300 Freeview+ recorders. I do not use the TopUp TV options on them but am very pleased with the basic operation. Since winning the Computer Shopper 2007 Awards - Best Hard Disk Recorder, the firmware (onboard software) has been updated several times since, the last time 2 months ago. It still cannot be matched by any other standard definition Freeview+ recorder. The firmware is updated automatically, over the air, so you don't need to do anything. My recorders are very stable now, never missing any recordings. Using the Freeview+ guide to set recordings allows it, automatically, to change the timing should the schedule change at the last minute. The recorder has all the usual features: - Record up to 2 channels simultaneously. - Option of either 8 day or 14 day electronic programme guide (EPG). - 2 x scart sockets. - Programmable remote control, to also control your television. - Digital Audio output. - S-Video output. One unique feature is that it can also be used on old TVs without a SCART socket, only a standard Aerial Input. Unlike almost all other such recorders, the DTI6300 has RF modulation, which means that it enables you to receive Freeview channels & playback its digital recordings through the aerial input on an old analogue TV. One problem which it does have is that low quality capacitors were used in the Power Supply (PSU) of the recorder. This can cause it eventually, to stop working. When purchasing, therefore, it is important to look for a Reconditioned model which has had these low quality capacitors replaced. So, be sure to purchase a DTI6300-16 (or DTI6300-25) with a reconditioned/upgraded PSU and you can't go wrong.Read full review

I have had these Thomson boxes before, which eventually pack up so always good to find a replacement in full working order.

These boxes are brilliant, I use mine all the time. It can record single programs or a complete series, just set and forget.
