I upgraded from a crazy filter pump to this sand filter. I used it and within 12 hours the pool smelled and looked sooo much better. Never again with filter pumps.

I changed to salt last year and ended the chemical addition to my above ground pool. This year I decided to get rid of the paper filters. This sand filter and pump was easy setup with clear instructions. The pump on this system is amazing compared to the paper filter pumps I have used through the years. I started this system with the swamp water left from the winter down season. The sand had to be backflushed every four hours to start with but has tapered off as the water has cleared. I expect a weekly backflush will be more than what is necessary after the water is clear and stable. This system is heavy (125# of sand+) and needs to be situated on a permanent base before you fill it. You will also need somewhere to drain the backflush water (I didn't want to put the saltwater on my grass). So far, I am very pleased and think I am on the road to a minimal amount of time doing pool maintenance.Read full review

This filter works great. We have an 18' x 48" pool and the filter that came with it was just too small. This product shipped right away and was packaged well. Instructions were easy to read and assembly was quick. Love that this sand filter has a timer. We run it for 8 hours a day. The water flow is a good rate and our pool is so much cleaner. We upgraded from the cheap pump and filter that came with our 18' round above ground pool to this unit. We could not be happier. Our water is crystal clear. We spent $75 in sand and around $30 I think in salt for start up. We haven't done anything for the last few weeks except run the pump around 6 hours a day and the salt water system for 4 hours a day and the water could not be clearer. I have to add that we live in SC and the temperature has been around 100 degrees for the last two weeks.....still not one sign of green! The pump is super strong and really circulates the water. This was a pretty easy set up. My husband and I are not great at working together and reading directions.... LOL but we had this completely set up and running within 2 hours, including adding the sand to the filter and adding the salt to the pool! I definitely recoomend!Read full review
