I originally ordered a Schatten RB-1 pickup for about $90. I installed it per instructions and it had a very hollow sound with no bottom end. ( I experimented for hours with all sorts of eq settings and different mounting positions to no avail.) I finally called the man at K&K sound to find out how to return it. He said too bad, no returns. However he would give me credit on a more expensive pickup, the "double big twin" He was sure it would sound good. It turned out to sound just like the first one. My bass is a 1940 Kay that I have always just used a Shure SM58 mic pointed at one of the F holes which produces a great full sound with plenty of solid bottom. I wanted to switch over to a pickup because the mic setup looks kinda cluttered, but at least it sounds good. So I'm back to my original setup and my wallet is $124 lighter.Read full review

You have to find your spot, the diagram provided but it’s not a good placement Piezo elements should be on the other side of the bridge as close to the strings as possible Preamp recommended or you should have a very good powerful bass combo
