My old DWP had died in the field and I was looking for a replacement. Mine was the budget type bought for about Β£100 in 2009/10 so I'd had my money's worth out of it. This one came up with its 3-speed box, hammer action, and the usual torque clutch. It has seriously more poke than the old one. Higher top speed in 3rd gear. Although it's heavier I think this is down to the heavier duty gearbox. Also has a higher impact rate on hammer action. Sometimes in life, you get what you pay for. Definitely a step up from the budget Makitas.

I bought this makita 8444d drill because makita is one of the best on the market, and it did not disappoint .It comes with two batteries and only takes round about a hour to charge so you can always have one on charge. The three speed box comes in handy going from putting in screws to heavy duty drilling the only down side is its a bit on the heavy side but their is a side handle for some extra support all in all its a brilliant piece of kit and would recommend to any one.
When my well used and old box broke, I thought that was the end of the world π I looked for alternative ways of carrying all the stuff I had stored in it over the years, all in addition to the normal bits of equipment. Then I found this and my life feels 'whole' again .... absolutely brilliant and at a reasonable price too. Very happy π
