Current slide {CURRENT_SLIDE} of {TOTAL_SLIDES}- Save on Saws
I have a very pretty garden, which was laid out by the previous owner some 20 years ago. Some of the smaller trees and bushes have thus grown quite large, and needed some heavy pruning. Not being very handy in terms of DIY I set about cutting back with all kinds of tools that I had.I quickly noticed that the saw that I had was not good for cutting green wood.I researched this and found that I needed a bow saw, with a blade specially prepared for green wood. Thus,I purchased the 21 inch bow saw, with 2 spare blades.I was very pleased with the price, and set to cutting back a particularly large Bay tree. The saw ripped through the green wood beautifully, saving a huge amount of time. For £10 or so if I never use it again ( and I certainly will !) it has already paid for itself.Having a gardener in would have cost £60 to £100 in my area.Read full review

Don't expect refined engineering for this price, it's cheap and cheerful, the blades have a short lifespan, but the saw is comfortable to use and it's easy to change the blades. The problem is the blades, although sharp enough have no set (the teeth have a cutting edge and a flat edge and are alternated, each tooth should be bend slightly from the perpendicular by a degree or two, this allows them to cut and clear debris) Once you have set the blade it cuts fine, you can do this without a saw set by bending them with two pairs of pliers, but be careful as a tooth set too far will snag the blade.

Very speedy delivery, thank you. The saw appeared to be well made and came with a very handy two spare blades. It was sharp enough to make short work of two large offending shrubs, well, small trees really. So I have to say that I am delighted with it. The next job I have for my new friend is a severe pruning of an even larger Alder tree.

The saw arrived & was put to work. It soon became apparent that there was a problem when the blade jammed in the kerf. On removing it & looking at the blade it was quickly noticed that there was no "set" to the teeth. A visit to the workshop sorted that out ,but -- what if you nether have the knowledge/ tools to rectify the problem...... ? So do not recommend.

This is a great bow saw. I used it a few times now and is better in build quility than my other that I bought from another well know supplier.
