I was seeking earphones of comfortable geometry for bedtime use. The Focal Sphear S have a too tipped up FR, and the Beyerdynamic Soul Byrds, although quite nice, faultered with acoustic piano and massed strings stridence...my references. The Grado GR10 are of course in a different price range, clearly revelatory in providing a neutral midband with nice spatial delineation. Their high sens (116dB/mw; 32ohms) also makes them easy to drive. Some users complain that deep canal insertion is required for sufficient bass, but I disagree, and find the mid-sized cups just fine. Doesn't seem like much product or presentation for the price-point, but once you get over that they become a trusty pair of transducers.

Great sound but not the easiest to get snugly fitting in the ear - and that is essential for the great sound. Expensive but satisfying once they are 'run in'.
