Only had this thing a week, but so far so good. Catch-up tv is easy to use and includes access to all the major broadcast channels, unlike the LG unit it is replacing. Writing to disk is fairly easy, and includes a 'finish' step which allows the disk to be read by any other disk player, unlike the LG unit it is replacing. Have not used the connectivity functionality as yet, but I'm sure it will be equally as good.

I bought this to replace a 5 year old Panasonic DMR-BWT700 which has developed an intermittent fault. One of the planned uses was to continue to digitise my old VHS collection but alas it doesn't have a SCART input. In fact it doesn't have ANY type of input (confirmed by Panasonic UK) and so is useless for this purpose. The one I bought was a refurbished unit from Richer Sounds so at least I didn't pay full RRP for it but it still cost me about two hundred quid more than the old one for a less well specified product. The firmware menu now consists of 3 different styles cobbled together (the DMR-BWT700 had 2 styles) and as far as I can see the only advantage is the 1TB capacity hard drive over the 320GB in the old unit (a quick check on line showed that 1TB drives are less than 20 quid dearer than 320GB ones) so I think you will agree this product is a rip off.Read full review

As mentioned by others the connectivity is poor, having only an HDMI out. Appreciate a lot of people no longer have scart equipment but given the promotion of the archiving function and large Hard drive, they could have made it for this. I also used to use my scart out to attach to a video sender, to send the signal to a remote tv in another room. Can't do that any more. The DNLA function is of limited use and most frustrating (perhaps mine is faulty) is that this model no longer allows page down on the tv guide. You have to hold the scroll down button for it to jump a page, else it just goes down one line at a time. Seems crazy. Also a word of warning. It also promoted the attaching of an external hard drive to increase capacity. Be warned I have had 3 of these have software failure and then you are unable to recover any of your recordings. I now archive to blu ray dscs. Also archiving to an external hard drive only works on that machine. If you replace the machine, your recordings are lost. Lastly the picture quality is good but given freeview have not even got most channels on HD broadcasts, let alone 4k it seems to be a dying system. There are probably 10 at most HD channels and some don't warrant it. If you have a 4k tv why would you want to watch tv broadcasts that are sub HD. Presumably it's the bandwidth taken up by HD meaning they are not prepared to shell out for them. Guessing we will all be on internet tv soon. Guess that is why it is a 5 year old model with no sign of an upgrade. Summary - ok but not worth £400 Read full review

This was bought to replace an older Panasonic model which has stopped recognising bu-rays. The machine works fine and does all I require, but the menu system is rather confusing since some screens are the same as the earlier model while others are quite different. This is just change for change sake like so much software today and contributes nothing to the usability of the machine. Some functions on the remote control have been moved about unnecessarily creating further confusion. Finally the lack of interface connections on the back panel is another retrograde step, Panasonic needs to properly consider their market and provide those functions which the advanced user needs.

This isn't a bad unit only issue I have with it is the connections on the back are very few there is only HDMI, RF In & Out, Coaxial Conector Eathnet Connection & USB on back but lacks the Audio inputs on back which all previous Panasonics has had till this model all in all though give it 7 out of 10
