    Excellent Heron Scarer

    Very pleased with this reflector ball. It moves gently on the surface of my pond, stirred by the breeze and the movement of the water. The fish seem undisturbed by it. It looks quite pleasing and above all it does seem to have kept the heron away, though only time will tell if it is a complete success. Certainly better than netting the pond or putting an electric wire around the edge. You could also hang it up to deter pigeons from eating your plants but mine will stay in the pond.

    Beautiful heron reflectors to keep predators from your pond

    The reflectors are poorly (I'm being nice) made. I purchased 6 of those things. I have an acre pond. I went to drop one but the top wasn't attached. They are constructed like Christmas ornaments with the exact same top. I dropped the second one and the rock that is supposed to keep it suspended snapped. One did successfully suspend - until the wind blew. It has now floated into the weeds against the shore waiting for me to go out to collect it with the other failures. I paid a lot for those things plus the expensive shipping. The worst product I ever purchased for my pond. Well, not the worst. Last year I purchased the heron decoys. My big heron tried to mate with it. Not so funny but I have have great pictures to show at parties. I have complained before. I really should ...

    Didn't stop the Heron

    A reasonable quality product for the price, but the heron was not put off for more than a few days at best. The reflector is bobbing about in the centre of our small pond, and the heron still comes every day and stands there fishing. Going to try making an open weave wicker cover for the pond, so frogs and small birds can get in, but not herons.

    Why am I such a sucker for stuff like this?

    After unsuccessfully experimenting with a plastic look-alike to ward off Mr Heron, we stumbled upon this marvel of German techonology ....a floating eyeball? It certainly looks impressive and it seems the animals came far and wide to have a laugh at it. Herons, ducks, moorhens and cats lined up to take a look at the UFO like thing floating in the water. So, iof you want a conversation piece go for it. If you want to scare off the herons, forget it!
