There are two cards in the box, but only one requires physical connection to a PCIe slot (x1 or higher), with the other secondary 'card' simply needing a free back plane over any slot. The two cards are linked via the supplied proprietary black flat ribbon cable. I fitted the card in minutes and installed the drivers from the CD, as it's far easier to automatically upgrade an installed set of Creative software than try and find the correct drivers/software on Creative's website. Other than fitting the main card into the PCIe slot, nothing else is required as the card gets all its power from the PCIe slot. The card works with Windows 7, 8 & 10 (I use Windows 10 64-bit). I bought the ZxR as an upgrade from the Creative Sound Blaster Audigy RX and what an upgrade. The Creative Sound Blaster ZxR Sound Card straddles the difficult boundary between enthusiast gaming and studio-grade audio equipment. Studio-grade components, which include external digital-to-analog converters (DACs) that deliver 127dB signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), sockets for swappable OP-Amps, a high-end 80mW into 600 ohm headphone amplifier and 192kHz pass through, deliver phenomenal audio quality. To get the best out of it requires good quality speakers and likewise quality headphones. I have the Logitech 2.1 Speaker System Z623 for my PC and the Sennheiser HD598 Special Edition headphones.Read full review

I was looking for a solution to record my Vinyl to Flac, I play a lot of music on my naim music streamer, so this is a great way to preserve my vinyl when in a hurry or focused on work. I installed the card within a few minutes, I had to disable my onboard sound card on my Gigabyte motherboard, once that was done a reboot and it was recognised, it downloaded some updates after registration. it took me a while to get my head around all the settings for 5.1, stereo and the various inputs and outputs between the main board and daughter board. Once I got it running, it was putting out some great sound on a YouTube stream and it recorded my vinyl at 24bit 96khz to Flac flawlessly. I am very pleased with this sound card, it holds its own within my high end hi-Fi setup and I recommend the quality and the flexibility outside of gaming for recording flac with vinyl studio and works fantastic with Youtube encoders. Highly recommended product, just be patient when setting it up.Read full review
