I needed to buy a camera to take some decent photographs of my children before they were grown up and away. The Canon EOS 7D Digital Camera with a couple of lenses filled the bill perfectly. It was expensive but with a quality lens fitted, it was at least £300 cheaper on ebay than elsewhere. I can now take Professional Standard, Portrait Photographs of my children at my leisure without visiting an expensive Studio (quite a steep learning curve and still a lot to learn to achieve what I want). I can capture the Fast, Sports and Action Photographs of them that I always wanted. Some of the shots taken by me and my children have revealed images that we missed at the time and could not see with the naked eye. Nature shots with the Zoom Lens are startlingly clear. It also has the ability to take Quality Video without the need to carry around another camera. Yes it is heavy, and rather inconvenient to carry around but compared to a compact camera it produces beautiful photographs that my kids can keep for years to come. I've yet to try it out at a Function or Special Event, but I am sure I will not be disappointed with the results. I wanted to capture more natural photographs and the spontaneity of the moment and this camera has certainly delivered.Read full review
Having just picked up our 7d to replace our 50d as a backup camera for our photoshoots, we've been pleasantly surprised at what we've bought. It's still a cropped sensor like the 50d, and not quite the full frame sensor of the 5d mk2 or 1d, but the images produced so far have been significantly better than other cropped sensor cameras we've tried, with a host of new features thrown in too.. We particularly like the wireless flash facility - allowing us to use our Canon Speedlites off camera without the need for contraptions and gizmo's. We also like the fact it can shoot at a high number of frames per second - useful if you enjoy sports photography. The camera is better weather protected than any of the previous Canon cropped sensor models - so if you're out and about - you're not going to worry too much if you hit a spot of drizzle! The viewfinder has a built in light up grid - so useful when it comes to low light shots to see if you're all lined up properly - with no sloping horizons! It's still early days for us yet - but for anyone weighing up this - or a second hand 1d mk2 or something similar - this is far better for the money I can assure you. We're happy - and we're sure you will be too...Read full review
should point out i got this with a 18-55 not 15-85, and im sure if your reading this you know all the tech about this camera. If you're a hobbyist photographer, getting your first slr, seriously the 550d, its soooo much cheaper and the pictures are practicaly indistinguishable, i regret spending the money..... having said that, only because of the money, i dont wana talk down the 7d, if you do get one you will love it just as much as i love mine, it is a trully great camera. Its weather sealed and durable enough to be used by a pro. It shoots almost as fast as a 1d.... a lot faster then the 5d, the controls are more or less the same as the 5d, making it great to use. Thats why i got one / justified to myself. i spend a lot of time snowboarding and i figured the cheaper one would get wet and broken. Dont think for second after getting this you wont want the L zoom to match it.... recommended ... if you can't afford this and a good zoom, then get a cheaper body and better lens. if you can afford both then get this and love itRead full review
The Canon EOS 7D with the 15-85mm lens is fabulous. For the beginner or expert photographer, it has everything you need. The clarity of pictures is outstanding and the functionality is excellent. Overall this is the camera package to go for if you are looking for something to help develop your skills and be proud of owning for a very long time.
A great camera and booster pack I could spend a long time explaining the improvements Canon have made to bring this camera to my hands but I'm no reporter and my english doesn't compete with others out there. This is one of the best. www.dpreview.com/reviews/canoneos7d
