With a casing as small as it has, I guess a louder chime would be too much to expect. Nevertheless the parts are good quality and I am using the battery holder and the solenoid striker to refurbish my antique tubular bells style chimes - they were LOUD. Plus the supplied doorbell pushbutton will be a good replacement at my back door.

I found fitting the batteries was not easy. The wiring from the battery pack to the mechanical part is very short. Took allot of time to get it working. I had to buy extra thin wire to extend the battery pack wiring.

The other Friedland I got took D batteries which needed changing every fortnight, this takes AA and have lasted a lot longer (with constant use).

Item well packaged. Instructions diagram poor. Description says it needs type AA batteries - it should say type AAA. The steel chime bars are already badly tarnished and I expect them to become rusty so I will coat with some oil as a precaution. Chimes are very quiet. It does the job - Buy cheap, expect poor quality.

Didn't work, tried various wiring and power supply combinations, suspect the magnet for the coil is cheap and not very magnetic. More importantly I wasted time fitting everything in place only to find that it would not work. Lesson: go to Screwfix and spend a bit more.
