Over the past few years I have purchased numerous bug bats from ‘discount’ stores, and was pleased with them initially, but they soon seem to start to struggle with zapping insects, despite fitting brand new batteries. I bought the Pro version of this, as it uses the larger batteries (most others use AA). It’s not until its used in anger that you realise how much more oomph this thing has compared with the previous ones I purchased. The normal version and the Pro version do seem expensive compared with the cheaper couple of quid ones, but the Pro is not far off the size of an actual tennis racket, and very sturdy and well built. Mozzies seem to vaporise with a loud ‘crack’. I cant fault the product, and you get 12 months warranty. No brainer to be honest. Top product that I’m glad I bought.Read full review

Although the zapper is miles better than its cheaper cousins and it kicks out a good zap, I expected something a bit better for the big difference in price. It is let down by the tacky parts used. The battery cover is difficult to remove and you feel like you are going to break it when removing it from the handle. The on/off button is very intermittent. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Worst point is that you have to flick it a few time to get the light to go out. It would be quite easy to take your finger off the button with the wires still being charged. OUCH !

This is the ultimate final form luxury model of the bug zapping racquet system. There is simply no substitute for the best. The awesome firepower of this thing is something to behold. Smaller insect and arachnid beasts are literally vaporized. Erased from existence in an alarmingly loud and ferocious light show. Even the largest of insect and spider horrors are easily and most importantly reliably one shot stopped on contact. Weaker, cheaper products sometimes fail to stop a dangerous beast like a hornet or large spider, and the dread monster will keep coming at you. Not with this in your hands. It reliably inflicts instant death on attacking beasts like they’re being hit by the lightning fist of angry god. Murder hornets you say? More like murdered hornets. Bring em’ on. Praise the lord and pass the C cell batteries, I can kill them all day.Read full review

A pleasing sound when a fly is hit, but although it is supposed to be a Pro model and it uses more powerful batteries than the standard model, it does not kill the fly or bugs until you give them at least one or two more hits. On testing the output of this model it does not give any more of a killing shock than the standard model. If you are brave enough, you can put your finger on the wires and feel the "shock". Really the only advantage is a slightly larger area to zap the fly so you don't have to be so accurate. Still, a good "toy" for grown ups !

OK, it is fun - a flash and satisfying 'crack' when you hit the fly, but mine doesn't kill or even stun flies. I say 'mine' because I have previously given one of these as a present and that seemed to be much more effective, downing though not killing even wasps, so I don't understand the difference. Sometimes mine will 'down' a small fly which can then be despatched with a foot, but it took three solid hits to bring down a medium-sized fly yesterday, so it's really not very effective. As a friend said, I might just as well be using an ordinary tennis racket, but then that wouldn't be as much fun: two stars then, but only for the fun.
