This grinder is so easy to use and clean. I was skeptical whether it could deliver a decent grind for my espresso machine. But It actually works pretty well with my pressurized porta-filter system. However, I don't think it would perform well for a higher end machine where a more precise grind is required. It is also great for brew methods that use a coarser setting like French press or cold brewing. And of course, any other method that falls between these works great as well. It is a bit loud, but this is common with lower priced (flat) burr grinders. If you're ready to step up from a blade grinder, this Cuisinart is a great place to start. To clean, twist the bean hopper all the way up to the coarsest setting, then keep turning it until it unscrews from the base of the grinder. Lift it off the machine and brush both the top and bottom burrs thoroughly and brush the chute as well. Turn the base upside down over the sink and tap to dislodge any grounds left inside. Doing this frequently will keep this grinder running smoothly and will prevent clogging or bogging down which can damage both the burrs and gears. This is my second Cuisinart burr grinder. They grind beans from course to very fine depending on your needs. The unit is easy to clean and comes with an owners manual with step by step instructions so you can maintain the unit in tip top working order. I have owned and used several coffee grinders in the past 70 years. The Cuisinart is by far the best, You can adjust the grind from course to a fine powder and anything in between. The hopper is large and will enough beans for several grinds. The DBM-8 is well built, has a strong motor and will last for many years. This is the second one that I have bought. I'll buy another.

This machine grinds my flax seeds daily or weekly. It takes about 5 seconds to to grind a weeks worth. It is so fast and uniform I think that could grind a 25 pound sack in 10 minutes ( if I could feed it in and collect that much in the same time). It's a used machine, but it came looking like new and works like new. It's hard to believe that they still make great products like this.
