This is a really handy replacement brush set, very easy to install and just what is needed to keep the older style DeWalt drills working. While you have the old brushes removed, it is a good idea to give the armature (commutator) a good cleaning and remove any debris that has built up, plenty of tutorials to help on youtube etc.

My SDS eats brushes for breakfast, so I keep a spare pair for a quick swap if necessary. Intermittent high current pulled through carbon brushes can cause thermal stress, and they shatter eventually. Using it for chopping out brick in rotostop mode is the usual cause. It's awkward stripping down the Dewalt tools to get to the brushes, but once you get there they clip in and connect with spade terminals. Cheaper than a dealer service or buying a new one.

Very easy to remove old brushes and fit the new replacements. Clean away carbon dust and general debris,clean commutator with fine grit (1200) emery paper to restore contact efficiency. Reduced operational sparking and increased longevity for under £5.
