Well, I'm not quite sure how these other reviewers have been able to give such a wonderful review... It is quite well made, though a bit naff in some areas, but forgivable. Perhaps it is a little too well made with heavy gauge steel. This means that when you have a 12.5mm 8' x 4' sheet of plasterboard (with lightweight 30mm celotex) it is virtually impossible to get any higher than 5'. The winch gearing is not 'low enough' and the steel framing (that rises) too heavy. The plasterer said he'd used it with 9.5mm 6' x 3' sheets fine, but they are much lighter, so maybe OK. Or perhaps I was sold a 'duff one' ? Either way, I'll be selling it and going back to my trusted timber props... It is good value for money though (if it 'works' for you) and, by and large, good quality (as good as Chinese cheap comes), but I cannot recommend it... Anyone want to buy an ' as new' version in Oxford Area ?Read full review

I brought this to help me fix plasterboard on my ceilings. I am using 2.4m x 1.2m 12.5mm plasterboard which is 24kg per sheet. The tool is difficult to manage with this size board on it. When it is described as a heavy duty lift tool I would expect it to cope with 24kg easily enough. The higher you lift the board the harder it becomes to use the tool and the cable quite often gets jammed either inside the machine or catches the winding handle. You have to slacken it off and then lift again to get past the blockage. Advice given was to let the brake off slightly but this is one of the safety features to stop the board crashing down. The bottom of the holders/feet you lift the board into are 0.9m from the floor so you need to be able to comfortably lift the board upto this height just to get the board onto the tool. All in all you still really need two people to use this tool in a productive way. I thought with the description it would be a good investment to help me work solo on plasterboading my ceilings but it hasn't worked out that way.Read full review
