Purchased this as our New Samsung LED tv did not have analogue audio output to connect to my sound system. Connected to 5v USB on my tv for power using the included power usb cable so l did not need to use a separate USB power plug. I used the included optical cable (never used one before) FOLKS REMOVE THE CLEAR PLASTIC PROTECTORS ON THE OPTICAL cable ends or the plugs will not push in lol. As previous reviewer states l experienced an echo when listening to both tv speakers and my audio system through the converter. THIS IS NORMAL as the process of converting Digital to Analog takes time. Thankfully l was able to adjust the ‘delay’ in the Samsung’s Audio settings which eliminated the echo :)

A bit disappointed. The converter didn't perform well with my wireless headphone kit and LG TV, the final output to my ear lacked in volume and there was a lot of 'mains hum' at times- the converter had to be in a certain position to minimise that. and going near it or touching it would affect the amount of that hum. I don't know if that's typical. The instructions were scant and of no use whatever. I DID like the way the converter powered up via the TV USB, very nice inasmuch as it only took power when the TV was on. Purists might expect the USB lead to be as long as the optical cable, sadly it isn't. Having said all that, this item is not bad really.

My old Home Cinema set up only had a SCART connection and my new TV didn't, but with an optical output this handy device enables me to use the vintage home cinema until finances permit buying a new system. The unit came with a USB power lead to provide power, although you could buy & use a 5 volt supply. The unit is plug & play, all you need are RCA Phono leads.

the technology advancement on TV makes it difficult to use my older version soundbar as it only allows to output sound through optical which my soundbar doesn't have so this is where such converter makes compatibility so easy. I am happy with the adapter but I am not sure if it shouldn't happen when the volume on TV increase there is an echo or double sound so I always keep it low and use soundbar instead as its what I want in first place so apart from this I say it is great product and recommend it for such compatibility issue.

The blue LED is much bigger and much brighter than necessary, wasting power. If the unit had about twice as much audio gain it would allow it to drive my Avantec bluetooth headphone system properly. This surely would be possible with a change of component values, with the extra power gained from the wasteful LED. Stereo 3.5 mm jack output in addition to the phonos would be nice, but not essential. Otherwise the sound is good and the unit well made and well priced.
