This is a present for my son - it has not been used yet. However this is the Oxford and I already have the Cambridge model - which differs only in the shape of the handle - and that has been in constant service for over 2 years. I bought this one because their current kettle takes AGES to boil, and to add insult to injury has a slight leak. My Russell Hobbs boils very fast and is easy to fill and pour. Like the Oxford it had little red plastic markers inside to show levels for one cup, two cups, etc. These in my view are not needed and I removed them in my own kettle. It is easy to see or feel if you have the right amount of water in; and this kettle will boil as little as one cupful in less than a minute. At under £20 this a great quality kettle and you would need to buy a £60 Dualit or similar to better it. It is also, in my view, very good looking. Thoroughly recommended.Read full review

I couldn't wait to try the kettle when it arrived today, I was so disheartened after boiling pans of water for the past week , To discover that the very short cable would not reach my wall sockets which are six inches higher than the cable , I literally turned a pan upside down stood the kettle on it to test its performance which was great! I live in a Victorian house and feel that the cable on the kettle is designed only for modern premises. I feel that the length of the cable should be described both in the advertising descriptions by all sellers and also on the box and instruction leaflets. Thankfully I I have ordered a cheap kettle as a standby which hopefully will arrive soon .

No frills, well built quick boiling kettle. Has handy markers inside kettle to pour the right amount of water to boil between 1 - 4 small cups of water. The lid is an interference fit and not a sprung loaded lid - less to break! Nice dumpy shape and the cord can be adjusted in the base to ensure its only as long as needed from a safety point of view if you have children in kitchen. Recommended if its for day to day home use.

The kettle works well - I unfortunately should have ordered the brushed finished version, which we already had. The previous kettle lid had began to break down so I just swapped the lids. I would have bought a new lid but could not find one on-line. So at present I have a lidless chrome kettle in excellent order!

You can't fault this kettle. It is well made. Looks very nice and boils fast. You don't need anything more expensive. I would recommend this product and would buy again.
