There are thousands of Converters from all possible combinations. Even Having some IT background, I was fooled by these convincing “converters” to think that they will work, simply as that. There are just simple cables that one end is digital & the other end is analog (or some other totally different tech) and let you think that it will work, just like that. Let me tell you something, almost all PASSIVE converters DO NOT work. And there is the expensive type that advertise their true comparability and charge you a leg or arm. And there is this, I almost gave up trying to hook up a monitor with VGA to my Laptop (HDMI only) cause the converters seemed to over 100$. I ordered this and it works like a charm. No External Power needed, but even if I do, the micro USB cable is provided. If you want, you can get the audio out from this device too (I don't see why anyone would do that, anyways). Note: I lose video signal rarely for few seconds and it gets back up. Not annoying or a major issue if you are not a hardcore gamer or using this to fly a drone like Predator. :p I totally recommend this product and is definitely got more than the "kick for the buck"Read full review

I've compared a native VGA output to a LCD with an HDMI output to the same LCD from the same PC. There is zero difference in sharpness and colours are great. However, no matter how much I try to tune up/down the LCD's brightness/contrast I can't seem to get it right for some reason. This is not much noticeable in normal use (e.g. browsing) but when I for example connect a PS4 to the LCD, tuning the brightness up doesn't have enough effect and some of the scenes remain way too dark.

I purchased an apple connector for my iPAD which outputs to HDMI..massively expensive as usual from Apple. I wasn't keen to spend the same amount (£40) on an apple VGA connector. Few commercial adapters seemed to offer taking the HDMI output and converting it to VGA for a projector...until this little beauty came along that is! It works straight from the box and has saved me over £30..audio connection is a bonus but works well. If you want to save yourself money, yet allow your iPAD to connect to the HDMI or VGA input on a projector... then do what I did.
