On the product page, memoryexpert show photos of several different brands of DIMMs. My ancient HP is very particular about the quality of its RAM and it doesn't like "budget" quality. I explained the details to memoryexpert and they told me which brand to request when I placed my order. When it arrived, the package was a lot heavier than I expected and I was amazed to discover that the supplied DIMMs were server quality, each enclosed in its own metal heat-sink. Apart from a few reboots, the system has benn running non-stop for 2 days and everything seems stable. In conjunction with a CPU upgrade (also from memoryexpert) this has been a cheap, worthwhile and very cost-effective way of extending the life of an old PC, for less than £25.

I am not sure why it is amazing. Anyway, I plugged it into my old Dell Optiplex GX520 computer and it worked. Is it good value? It's much cheaper than it would be new. Is it fast? It's fast enough for the machine. Does it perform well? Yes. It speeds up some programs, such as Google Streetview a lot, having 4GB total RAM, compared with 2GB. I am not interested in gaming, so I can't say anything about that.
