works fine, excellent for making sure your in the right lane at motorway intersections especially (my fault I took a wrong turn at Thessalonika in Greece). Did have an issue in 2016 in Bruges (Belgium) where the road was up, had been for 3 months, and the map didn't update. The local garage owner was very controlled about redirecting me as apparently he was helping 50 to 100 people a day to get to their destination! However, and this is the pain in the ---- , if you don't have a house number or a road name, it doesn't have the facility to put in a name, so e.g. knowing there is a garage on the A90 outside Helmsdale isn't programmable, can't take the word, can't take the road number. However if off Google maps or similar you can get the GPS co-ordinates it will take you there exactly so with a bit of pre-planning it's fine, if someone says 'Oh yes, so & so's on the such and such estate, no road number or street name, your stuffedRead full review

I never wanted to have a sat nav relying on Road atlas and on line route planners, but having managed to get slightly lost and stuck trying to find the way home from Birmingham. I thought I would try one anyway but did not want to buy brand new . So opted for a brand I had heard of Tom Tom and bought from Argos via ebay. The Tom Tom Via 135 refurbished. The size is good 5 Inches so not to large to be a bother in the car but big enough to use and see properly .I have used it three times and it as been good on 2 trips and iffy on 1 but this was possibly down to user error (myself) I tried updating but I have no Idea if this was a success as it took for ever and a day and in the end I just unplugged it from my laptop whilst it was still saying it was updating. The voice activated bit where you tell it what you want does not work for me she can't understand what I am saying so this is annoying. However I find the overall usability is good for what I want which is easier directions from A-B and as it was not brand new I am not to bothered about the Voice bit. I still have plenty to learn about it but it suits my purpose. The Leaflet that came with it to go on line to Register, and how to use in the car as very good picture instructions. I think that a Tom Tom is superior to most inbuilt car sat navs because it is easier and cheaper to keep up to date. The Via 135 has a good size screen and shows as much detail as you decide to program. The speed camera function is excellent.

This is my first TomTom so I was expecting a well engineer product which I hope would perform well. Pleased to say loading the maps was easy ( Thankfully for me ) It was also a pleasure to programme the route. No problems .
