It is a good alternative to the Canon original for budget hobbyists. There are two big cons, both expected - built quality (all plastic, feels wobbly but as long as the lens are kept in alignment...) and loud focus motor. Another disadvantage (minor for some I guess) is the narrow focusing ring that is somewhat difficult to use. Optically the lens works as expected, not tack sharp wide open and with some chromatic aberration but also not terrible (used on APS-C where the corners get cropped so it may be worse on FF). Verdict - it's not really great but a good deal if you can accept the cons.

It´s a good lens for the price, but no sharpness in the corners at f.8 its starts to fog a little bit up to f22 but good money for a 35mm anyway, i used it in a FF and on APs-c sensor. Overall for a professional Photographer i wouldnt advise buying it.

It's a good enough lens that I can't see the flaws. I'm using it to use my DSLR as a webcam, though it's useful for a lot more than that. I can't afford a zoom lens that can do F2, so coupled with my 50mm prime this improves range of photos I can get. Autofocus is audible, but it's not as loud as the kit lens for example.

The lens is rather well built, a clear copy of the Canon original lens but at a fraction of the price. I'm no pro and was on the market for a fixed 35mm to do some portraits. This budget type lens is ideal to start venturing into the field without spending too much. I'm sure a more experienced user will find flaws with it but tat that price, what else do you expect? I hardly ever shoot raw and always compressed JPEG. Comparing it to the prime 50mm Canon budget lens which I also have they are very similar in construction and build. Don't expect nothing more than a lens that just works. Aperture is down to F2.0 and that seems to be enough to capture nice depth with your photos. The packaging it comes with is just sufficient. No bag or pouch to store it nicely, just the standard branded cardboard box with plastic bag inside and two leaflets. Read full review
