Despite many negative reviews around the internet, this turntable IS capable of very fine record reproduction! There are, yes, some quality control issues that do appear to have been overcome, and this example reached me in perfect condition and has worked flawlessly in all the time that I have owned it. It holds speed perfectly - as it should - and gets up to speed very quickly indeed; around 1/3rd revolution! The supplied cartridge; the AT95E is remounted on a very nice new style headshell, and with a little tweaking by myself to perfect alignment, sounds very articulate, and detailed, with a lovely extended treble, and a very solid and tuneful bass. Stereo separation is excellent, and goes to build a very realistic 'image' between and around the loudspeakers. Overall, a very clean, clear, and open sound...and this is using the built-in pre-amp which comes under much criticism online. It's not as good as an external pre-amp, but it still sounds pretty good, for those without :) I have no problems with recommending this turntable, based on my sample :)Read full review

I used to have technics 1200's, so when I saw this it was right up my street. I got mine reconditioned from audio technica, it came fully boxed and all the parts packaged exactly as it would from new, and everything was mint, for £150! Great value. The build quality and sound is amazing for the price. Needless to say I love this turntable and highly recommend it!

My previous TT was a a technics SL BD22 but this is certainly a step up in sound and build quality. The stock AT95E sounds great but an upgrade to the Ortofon 2M Red takes the quality up a notch. I play this through a Denon amp and Dali Zensor speakers and am more than happy with its sound. Perhaps not for the audiophiles out there but a great starting turntable.

Super build quality. Fantastic value, mid priced for audiophiles of all standards. Arrived packed very well and easy to get going with minimal assembly

Great turntable. Looks good, sounds good. Perfect for listening. Wouldn't want to hit it hard with mixing and scratching like you would on a Technics SL1200/1210. But, for general use, it's fine and really brings alive old recordings and gives a very true sound. My mum loves playing her old 50's and 60's records on it.
