Superb . Filmed in a different way to the usual . Which was very interesting and engaging . The cast are wonderful and it was great to see Wicky AKA Stephen Wicks . Anthont Dowell has simply never received enough recognition as the best english dancer ever to have lived .

The ballet is derived from a drama. It draws from the drama and focusses the story. That focussing is part of the charm of the ballet and part of the problem. In the ballet, the ending doesn't seem to follow from the story or the story is very abbreviated leaving out important details. That being said, I enjoyed it and watched it three times in the first month. .

A BBC 1990 recording of Sir Kenneth MacMillan's 'Winter Dreams' is based on the Checkov play "Three Sisters". Filmed in a studio and not on stage, the narrative focuses on the emotional entanglements of the characters. The original cast is excellent, showcasing the talents of principal dancers of The Royal Ballet of that era, such as Darcey Bussell and Irek Mukhamedov. The movement vocabulary jarred in a few places when being too contemporary for the period's mood, but otherwise it is a work of genius.
