I am sure this was the dogs in its time but there are much better products available for just a little bit more dosh. The display is small and age old, the tailoring of the tabs is limited, slow to refresh compared with say a Garmin 660. Unless you are an antique collector or really really strapped for cash I would avoid as you will probably be disappointed, as I was and ended up shelling out a little more for a far superior product - still a Garmin as they are the best.
Top quality item bought to use on my BMW adventure motorcycle. Difficult to use compared to more modern systems, can not navigate using full postcode. But can be bought for a fraction of the price overall good item but time consuming to use.
I bought this as an upgrade from my streetpilot III, its a very good unit easy to use, clear,I like the beanbag for mounting the unit on to your dash board it stops leaving circle marks on your windscreen easy fot a thief to know you have sat nav my only fault with it is that there is no battery power the unit has to be plugged into the mains or car/bike power
After learning about the Garmin 2610 from Gumball 3000 veteran Alex Roy of Team Polizei 144 (he broke the American Transcontinental record - 31hrs 4mins - with a selection of Garmin devices, including the 2610), I knew I had to get one! Found one in immaculate condition on eBay and I am most happy with it! You can tell its an old unit BUT the way the thing has been thought out and designed blows modern SatNav's out of the water. The UI is excellent once you get the hang of it! When on a trip you can switch to viewing lots of information about your speed, average speed, trip length so far, list goes on! Favorite locations are known as 'Waypoints', use these to create routes! Comes with a remote control and if you can get the beanbag mount for your dashboard I highly recommend it! Overall, if you're into tech and if you can find a good example, get hold of one of these 2610's - better than the 2620's which had a hard drive inside - prone to skipping from vibrations from driving!Read full review
This is a very reliable piece of kit. We already have 1 & have used it extensively on our m/cycles all over Europe. It is also waterproof which makes it ideal for m/cycles - have ridden through horrendous rain on some of the European high passes & no trouble with the unit. Eastern Europe is not included on the mapping unfortunately but we just reverted to maps for that. Using a good GPS really allows you to concentrate on your journey rather than keep checking maps - so in that respect I feel it is a good safety feature. You can also find reataurants, fuel stations etc near whereever you are & the Garmin will take you right to the door!!. The software is fine once you get used to using it on your pc We now have 2 2610's - one for each bike - & of course we use it in the car as well. Just be advised when buying a 2nd hand one that you must ensure the unlock codes are included or you cannot download mapping via your PC to the unit.I'd recommend Version 8 City Navigator as probably the best. Version 9 has a few glitches. Enjoy your GPSRead full review
