At last a great way to roast chestnuts if you haven't got an open fire to do them in the classical way! They take so long in the oven or under the grill, and what with taking them out to check and turn over at risk to fingers - it was such a faff it often put me off even bothering. Over a gas hob in this pan, what a difference. Just shaking the pan a bit to keep them moving, while watching the little sparks catch on their tufty tails, it was such a fun job and took no time at all. I don't know if it would be AS efficient and entertaining on electricity, but the instructions do say it can be done. Last year I got a special gadget for making a slit in the shells, also highly recommended :-) It's a tedious task with just a fork, but no good if they explode, even if it does happen to be Guy Fawkes night :-s The pan is very lightweight in spite of the extra long wooden handle (which is a real plus), but for all the use it'll get in a year, it looks plenty robust enough to me.Read full review
