I’ve used a cheaper unbranded butterfly style razor for some time. I do occasionally get nicks and weepers. This is altogether a different quality of razor, and I wish I’d bought one earlier. Slightly fiddly to load due to three-piece design compared to a butterfly style. But the result using an extremely sharp blade is excellent. Made in England which is a bonus. I’m told that the head is made of an alloy that would break if dropped on a hard surface, so be careful.

Having recently switched to safety razor shaving, after much research I purchased the Edwin Jagger DE89. It is a quality piece of kit, well-constructed and built to last with an attractive chrome finish. Although using a safety razor does take a bit of practice there are plenty tutorials on YouTube), used with a decent blade, a reasonably steady hand, and good shaving soap, it is without question the closest shave I have experienced. It is also worth bearing in mind, in these environmentally conscious times, that for less than a tenner you can get 100 blades, which are recyclable. A single blade (Astra platinum are my preference) will give you 3-4 shaves. This is an interesting contrast with the extortionate multi-blade cartridge razors, at around £16-20 for 8, which to the best of my knowledge cannot be recycled.Read full review

I bought this as my first safety razor after reading many reviews. I don’t have a beard but shave daily. It absolutely does the job. A few nicks to bed in with as I got used to it. Now a great shave everyday. Cheap to get replacement blades and environmentally friendly. What’s not to like.

Having wet shaved for years (Mach 3) l watched the Wet shaving video's on U Tube and realized l knew very little. So l brought all the shaving paraphernalia and a DE 89L. After ripping my face up with a Feather blade which was my fault l healed up and tried a Personna blade. Absolutely wonderful 3 pass shaving . This razor is the Bees knees. well crafted with amazing chrome finish. Only one cut since because l hadn't tightened the head up properly. l try not to overtighten the head as l know this will cause problems (as with all 3 piece razors). No slipping on its handle and easy to get the correct angle. But l have never had such smooth shaves, really impressed. The idea first proper razor to buy. Next on the list is an open comb razor, but that's when l become more experienced .Quality bit of gearRead full review
