hard to use ,, focus is slow and image blurry needs a tripod all the time .. its a bit heavy, it takes good photos and i recommend it as a toy if its not costing you more than $250
The first thing you notice about this lens is it's weight. Obviously you expect a lens like this to weigh a fair bit, but even so, it's a bit of a shock if it's your first large telephoto lens. Once it's on your camera body though you really don't notice the weight as it becomes perfectly balanced. Picture quality is exceptional through the whole focal range. I took five pictures, starting with 170 and ending with the full 500 and the results were uniformly stunning. As it is a large lens, if you are not used to it then shooting without a tripod may take a little getting used to but I found that I was able to compensate for the extra weight easily enough after the first couple of minutes. At the price I purchased it, I couldn't recommend it more highly. Knowing what it is capable of I'd now happily go buy another off the high street if I had to.Read full review
