Used these for years but getting difficult to find. Good supplier on eBay. These are very very sharp, cut with a very narrow kerf and, when you get used to the pull action, cut absolutely straight. The best dowel saw available (there are many other, more expensive ones, available) but I use them for many things beside dowels. Use with great care though: they will cut straight through to bone without you even feeling it - I know because I once did it! Local A&E patched it up quickly, said it was such a clean cut it was easy for them!

Giving this 5 stars but not used as yet. This was obtained to replace an original Japanese model of which this is the same in every way. As I could not obtain a spare blade I purchase the Irwin. I cannot see that it will be inferior to my existing one which is an excellent little saw and has recently had a lot of use in cutting plastic soffit, hollow board and the like where a fine cut is better. The only problem I see is that spare blades don't seem to exist which begs the question, "why make the blade removable".

It is a very accurate dovetail and fine work saw. Because the blade is so thin you can work closer to or actually on your lines. Sometimes I have used it to start my cuts after using a craft knife to score, then following up with a tenon, cabinet or Jack saw (just keep the cut away from your lines a little to allow for those courser saws' blades) . It gives that reassurance of accuracy. I have even cut tenons down the grain with this and stayed true to line, though starting off with this saw and continuing with a cabinet saw takes less time and effort. Just remember to cut on the pull, not the forward stroke. Great little tool and an essential tool box item. It cuts with ease. There is a little blue button that you can press to change the blade on the handle. I wonder if I should get another one for cutting Sunday roast joints? Read full review

Widely receives positive reviews which seem well deserved. It's certainly good value. I can't claim to have tested it against the many alternative (more expensive) options but this tool does the job for a modest sum. It's a mystery why the replacement blades aren't available but that doesn't change my positive assessment of the product.
